    Nakhon Nayok Local dishes

    If you get bored of the food in city restaurants, try local dishes such as Kai Yang – Som Tam in front of the Phra Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy. For those interested in trying something new several local dishes include:

    1. Boiled Bamboo Shoot with Pla Ra (a condiment of fermented fish)

    A local dish in which three-layered pork and Pai Tong bamboo shoot are boiled in coconut milk. The mixture is then boiled again with Ya Nang grass juice, chili-paste sauce and Pla Ra and is seasoned with fish sauce and palm sugar.

    2. Pla Som's Eggs

    Pla Som's Eggs is made by fermenting pounded garlic, salt, boiled rice and Pla Som's eggs for a few days until it is sour. Then the fermented paste is boiled in coconut milk and seasoned with salt, palm sugar and a kaffir lime leaves. This delicacy may be eaten with eggplants, cucumbers and other fresh vegetables.

    3. Khanom Dok Sanow

    This is a mixture of rice flour, sugar and Sanow flowers which are mixed together and steamed.

    4. Pomelo

    Pomelo is a popular fruit in Nakhon Nayok. It can be eaten fresh or with fermented fish paste. It goes along well with spicy salads.
